It makes my heart happy to see these kids learning life skills, and be competent at it.
Yay! More hiking. I find that it is not that often that you can find a quality loop trail for a day hike. Especially not right out your back door!! We hiked up Fairy Springs, doing a fair amount of route finding, and then back down the prominent ridge we can see from our house. It was supposed to be a 9-12 hour hike, 16km for experienced hikers only. Our group polished it off in 8 hrs 45. Another great day out, with an awesome bunch of women.
I thought my fireworks pictures were going to be stella. We got ourselves a little posey, I set my camera up while it was still somewhat light and I could see what I was doing, and we sat and waited for the show to start. Then out of nowhere we got blasted with water – someone forgot to shut off the timer for the sprinkler!! I was scared that my camera was going to be ruined. Thankfully Neika got the brunt of the blast and my camera was OK, but I was kind of rattled!! And because we had to move my pre-focusing was all messed up and I couldn’t see in the dark to fix it. Oh well. It is kind of blurry but I like it anyway with the vague outlines of my crew standing watching.
